“Having had an operation on my knee and then a major operation on my back, during and at the end of the 2010 season, the rehabilitation process was hard. Working with Amy throughout the rehabilitation process ensured I was able to maintain an optimal level of training, without any additional soft tissue dysfunctions. Pre surgery and from the initial stages of recovery to full fitness, Amy has provided the soft tissue work that has allowed me to train and play at my best.” September 2011

“The maintenance treatment received from Amy through the 2007 season really helped my body stay at the competitive level it needed. Durham won two bits of silverware in 2007 (Friends Provident Trophy and the Natwest Pro 40 Division Two) and it is with the work of the full team, including Amy, that this was possible. Although one of the more mature players at Durham CCC I had an excellent season, finishing off by getting the Professional Cricketer Association (PCA) Player of the Year!”

“Preparing your body for an Olympic games, a World Championships or any major championships and getting in the best possible physical shape is exactly what every elite athlete strives for. I utilise massage to help assist my body to get to its physical best! Massage facilitates, not only in the final preparation stages of training into a meet but also helps me to understand my body better, prevent injuries and train at an even higher intensity throughout the season.”

“Sports massage has been a vital element of my training programme for the last 4 years. Prior to receiving sports massage therapy my range of movement and flexibility were restricted due to the limited elasticity in the soft tissues. As a wheelchair user I am constantly using similar muscles to those that I specifically use as part of sailing, I am therefore at a greater risk of getting overuse injuries. The massage not only reduces the chance of this, but can also be used as part of a rehabilitation strategy. Amy is able to identify any imbalances that may be in my soft tissues, once these are highlighted they are treated ensuring no further injuries occur. When recovering from injuries in the past, sports massage has enabled me to get back to training quickly. Receiving sports massage has made me a stronger, fitter athlete, ensuring I am using my muscles effectively.”

Suzie Robson

- Chronic Fatigue Sufferer

Chris cook

“I receive massage from Amy every other week and it is this maintenance treatment that enables me to live my life to the full. Having chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) means that I get tired quickly and my lymphatic system is not as able to cope with the waste produced from normal day to day activities. With the deep tissue massage received from Amy it improves the venous and lymphatic flow that helps speed up the removal of waste. The quality of my life has been improved dramatically from receiving the sports massage treatment on a regular basis.”

MICHAEL DiVENUTO

- Durham CCC player and Tasmania Batting

“As cricket has become more and more professional in the modern day, sports massage has become an important part of the professional cricketers needs. Not only is sports massage an important part of a cricketers recovery process but it also a way of injury prevention. Australian state teams have been using sports massage in their programs for quite a while now. A contracted player is expected to have a sports massage at least once if not twice a week. The masseuse will be available during home games on a needs basis and most states take a masseuse away with them. In Tasmania, we don't have a travelling masseuse but we have a company in each state we visit that comes in at the end of each days play to service the players who need work. We are very lucky here in Durham to have one of the better masseuses going around in Amy Woolstenholmes. An area we can definitely improve though is to have her around when we travel. With the county cricket schedule as busy as it is and the amount of time we spend travelling on a bus I think she would be a huge asset, not only to help with recovery but also injury prevention especially to our fast bowlers who are extremely important to our team. ” August 2009

DALE BENKENSTEIN

- Durham CCC player

“The players need a full team of back room staff to ensure they are receiving the support required for them to be performing at their best. The sports massage provided by Amy has contributed to the success of the club over the last 4 years. The players, including myself, now realise the positive impacts of receiving sports massage from Amy, and feel the benefits can be further improved if she was full time at the club. Providing the sports massage full time would ensure the players could access the massage when needed, this would be especially beneficial when we travel to play away.” September 2009
